Turning School Inside Out

Waldorf High School Pedagogy Research and Development Project

High school teachers are invited to apply for a special summer retreat at Filigreen Farm, a Demeter certified Biodynamic farm in Boonville, California. Waldorf teachers Kibby MacKinnon, America Worden, and Beth Weisburn, along with Filigreen farmers Stephanie and Chris Tebbutt, will offer activities for us to practice being learners. We will farm, clown, sense and sketch. We will explore the path from sense experience to thinking and how it changes as the child grows. Through dialog, we will characterize learning moments for adolescents and adults.

In this natural environment – Filigreen Farm has been cultivated biodynamically for many years – we will shed our connection to media and explore how we respond to the unspoken questions of our students. Each day a few students will join us for farm activities, sharing meals and reflection circles as we ask, “What can be learned, here on the farm?”
